Hunter Stockton Thompson (July 18, 1937 – February 20, 2005) was an American journalist and author who wrote The Rum Diary (1998), Fear and Loathing is Las Vegas (1971), Hell’s Angels: The Strange and Terrible Saga of the Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs (1966), etc. He is credited as the creator of Gonzo journalism, a style of reporting where reporters involve themselves in the action to such a degree that they become central figures of their stories. He is known also for his lifelong use of alcohol, LSD, mescaline and cocaine (you name it); his love of firearms; his inveterate hatred of Richard Nixon; and his iconoclastic contempt for authoritarianism. While suffering a bout of health problems, he committed suicide in 2005 at the age of 67.

Henry Charles Bukowski (born Heinrich Karl Bukowski; August 16, 1920 – March 9, 1994) was an American poet, novelist and short story writer. His writing was influenced by the social, cultural and economic ambience of his home city of Los Angeles. It is marked by an emphasis on the ordinary lives of poor Americans, the act of writing, alcohol, relationships with women and the drudgery of work. Bukowski wrote thousands of poems, hundreds of short stories and six novels, eventually publishing over sixty books. In 1986 Time called Bukowski a "laureate of American lowlife". Regarding Bukowski's enduring popular appeal, Adam Kirsch of The New Yorker wrote, "the secret of Bukowski’s appeal. . . [is that] he combines the confessional poet’s promise of intimacy with the larger-than-life aplomb of a pulp-fiction hero.”

Albert Einstein (March 14 1879 – April 18, 1955) was a German-born theoretical physicist who developed the general theory of relativity, one of the two pillars of modern physics (alongside quantum mechanics). He is best known for his mass–energy equivalence formula E = mc2 (which has been dubbed "the world's most famous equation"). It is our staunch belief that Einstein devised many of his scientific theories while under the guise of psychedelic drugs.

Kevin Norwood Bacon (born July 8, 1958) is an American film and theater actor whose notable roles include Animal House, Footloose, Flatliners, A Few Good Men, JFK, Apollo 13, and Tremors. Bacon has won numerous awards but never an Oscar. The Guardian named Bacon as one of the best actors never to have received an Academy Award nomination. In 2003, Bacon received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Bacon is the subject of the trivia game titled Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, based on the idea that, due to his prolific screen career covering a diverse range of genres, any Hollywood actor can be linked to another in a handful of steps based on their associations with Bacon. The name of the game derives from the idea of six degrees of separation.

Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria (December 1, 1949 – December 2, 1993) was a Colombian drug lord and narcoterrorist (what a sweetie). He was an elusive cocaine trafficker and a rich criminal. At the height of his power, Escobar controlled 80% of the global cocaine market. His catch phrase was "plata o plomo" (silver or lead) and we have seen many tee shirts with this saying, always in Spanish with English subtitles -- well, here's our spin on it.
