Are you struggling to find the perfect gift this holiday season for the person who likes to draw attention to themselves? Then you might want to visit the online T-shirt store www.FATENZO.com, based in Downtown Jersey City.
The website is filled with a unique line of novelty T-shirts with clever slogans based on history and pop culture that are for all ages.
Entrepreneurs Rob Piccirillo, 30, and Adrien DeMartini, 25, who recently moved to Jersey City, come up with the funny slogans and the art with help from Robert VanWest, who is an artist and graphic designer from Florida.
"We would like our customers to express themselves in different ways and it's a perfect opportunity to do so with a shirt that symbolizes who they are," DeMartini said.
Both Piccirillo and DeMartini began their endeavor in 2009, making humorous T-shirts using images from politics (left-leaning) and pop culture.
"In today's society, people are able to express themselves more freely without getting ridiculed, and that's what we are about," said Piccirillo. "I also have a fondness of tattoos, which led me to start designing T-shirts as another means of expression."
Piccirillo, a University of Florida graduate who moved to Jersey City last March, previously owned a successful insurance agency.
"I was doing something that took away from my creative side and when the market changed, I knew I had to change what I was doing as well," he said. He and DeMartini, a photographer originally from Illinois, packed up and moved to New Jersey.
"Jersey City was definitely a city in which we found a big artist population where everyone supports each other," DeMartini said. "Our name and logo comes from my dog, Enzo, who is a tad overweight. He is our trusty mascot."
